This summer marks two years since T. REX premiered for audiences around the world, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate the film’s incredible journey, from fossil discovery to global giant-screen success. T. REX quickly became one of the giant-screen industry’s standout success stories. This anniversary is especially meaningful in light of the recent passing of Sam Neill, whose unforgettable narration helped bring the story of T. REX to life for audiences around the world. We’re grateful to have his voice forever woven into the film and the experience it continues to share with audiences.
Two years later, T. REX continues to inspire audiences with its blend of cutting-edge science, breathtaking visuals, and unforgettable storytelling. The fossil discovery itself generated more than 2,000 news stories across 80 countries and in more than 30 languages, creating extraordinary excitement for the film’s release. With more than 150 bookings worldwide, the film continues to reach museum and science center audiences across the globe. It has earned outstanding reviews from exhibitors and guests alike and was honored with four Giant Screen Cinema Association Achievement Awards in 2025, including Best Film – Short Subject, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Design, and the Big Idea Award.
As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our sincere thanks to our theater partners, production team, scientific collaborators, and the audiences who have helped make T. REX such a remarkable global success.
“Powered by extended runs worldwide, the recent release of the film in China, an acceleration in the global planetarium market and the new 4D version—two years on and T. REX is going strong!” said Andy Wood, Producer, Writer and Co-Director of T. REX. “What’s more, D3D continues to bring new museums into its Cinéfolio program with T. REX as the anchor film. A companion picture book will be published and distributed worldwide in the fall. It’s been a wild ride! The GSF team is thrilled by the continued enthusiasm and we’re truly appreciative of the support by our colleagues in the museum cinema network!”
